Deployment Options

ZL Technologies' distributed architecture, GRID architecture and modular design is unique and has numerous advantages, including deployment flexibility.

Irrespective of the complexity of an organisations network, ZL Technologies deploys in such a way to maximize security of the data without disrupting or modification of the existing mail flow or network.

In a typical deployment applications based on the ZL Technologies Platform sit at the network edge or boundary in the DMZ or behind one or more firewalls.

For its gateway applications, the ZL Technologies Platform can be the primary SMTP gateway or email can be relayed to it from an existing gateway. Often times a network has an existing SMTP routing gateway, anti-virus gateway, or content scanning gateway. ZL Technologies supports all such systems via SMTP. And for all major vendors, provides an even tighter integration, enabling centralized control and management of the other gateways through its administrator and management interfaces.


Network Configuration

The ZL Technologies Platform supports virtually any network configuration enabling a wide range of firewall configurations and database deployments through proxy servers so that there is never any direct access to data. ZL Technologies utilizes standard protocols and only requires that ports for HTTP/HTTPS and SMTP are open in the firewall if not already.

Scalability

Scalbility of ZL is literally unlimited.  Depending upon the size of the deployment, the ZL Technologies Platform can operate on a single PC server or across multiple servers. Various components of the gateway function including the database, middleware, and web servers can be distributed across multiple systems to enabling scaling.

Any data stored by the system can be done in encrypted or non-encrypted forms in the database as metadata. This maintains a fast and responsive database. Variable components of messages such as attachments, etc. are accessed through the metadata and stored in any standard file systems (local storage, NT/Unix file servers, NAS or SANs, network storage devices, etc.).

Clustering / Load Balancing

Server or gateway machines can be clustered and load balanced, and implemented to maximize failover capacity, redundancy, availability, and scalability.

In most situtations, ZL Technologies' site licensing pricing model is ideal. This highly cost effective solution does not penalize customers regardless of how many gateways are deployed. ZL Technologies is simple enough to deploy with internal IT resources and most packages include training. But ZL Technologies can also provide consulting or professional services to support initial implementations or training of additional personnel.

System Requirements

The ZL Technologies Platform is 100% Java and designed to run in any back office environment. It is also ideally suited for enterprises focused on platform architectures such as J2EE or .NET and supports Web services.

As such, the ZL Technologies Platform is extremely flexible running on all major operating systems, application servers, web servers, databases, and system platforms.
